Kauai Island in Hawaii

Gorgeous canyons, awesome waterfalls, many species of flowers and plants, tasty, tropical fruits, and beautiful beaches — Kauai, Hawaii, let me tell you about Kauai, Hawaii. It is a really great place to travel. You can have a lot of fun experiences. Some of those can be a once in lifetime experiences like helicopter rides, playing with clouds, and enjoying rainbows everywhere. I am going to share my Kauai experiences with all of you.

Kauai Chickens

First, Let me tell you about the chickens. There are chickens everywhere. When we arrived at the airport we saw a lot of chickens roaming around. We saw roosters, chickens, baby chicks, and families. Hawaii is 2 hours ahead of California time. I had to wake up really early like at 5:30 am — 5:45 am. It’s all worth it because school ends at 11:35 am in Hawaii. Of course, I did not eat lunch at 9:30 am in the morning, I ate lunch after school around 1:30 pm (Hawaii time). I got almost all day to roam around places like the beaches, the park, or the pool in the hotel. We love to go to the hot tub after we go to the pool or the beach. It feels nice after the pool, and if we have gone to the beach it helps us to get the sand out of our hair.

Pool Fun

Second, Hawaii weather is almost always hot. When it is hot we can go to the beaches. We went to beaches such as Poipu Beach, Hanalei Beach, Kekaha beach, Kalapaki beach, and so much more beaches. As you can see I went to a lot of beaches. In Hanalei beach, it was so shallow that my sister, Anisha, and I had to get so far to get the water to our waist level, but our parents did not let us walk/crawl that far at the beach. Out of all the beaches I went to, Poipu was the best place to take pictures. There was a rocky area where you could sit and stand, and when the tides came in it looked like volcanoes were erupting but made of water. If you take the picture at the right exact time the picture would have water volcanoes erupting.

Beaches

Third, I saw many types of natural beauties. One of them is many types of flowers but my favorite flower was hibiscus. It is my favorite flower because it has many different types of colors and it is everywhere in Kauai. My favorite color of the hibiscus is pink with a white design, and magenta in the middle. It is so beautiful that I want to have it in my own backyard! I even saw many waterfalls. I remember seeing a ginormous waterfall on a beach. We went to Waimea canyon. Waimea Canyon, on Kauai’s West Side, is described as “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” It was not as big as the Grand Canyon, but I thought it was really pretty.

Fourth, we went to Fern Grotto by boat. Fern Grotto is a fern-covered, lava rock grotto located on the Wailua River. When we reached the cave/grotto there were a few local singers that sang and danced a few Hawaiian wedding songs. Nature and the performance were amazing. We saw many types of trees including papaya. There are a lot of natural ripen papayas on the tree. My dad actually took a long stick and hit the papaya to get it. The funny part was on the way back the local singer on the boat actually sang a papaya song for my dad!

We tasted many tropical fruits in Kauai. We found Guavas, Pineapples, Mangoes, Papayas, Young Coconuts, and many more. We went to the farmer's market and bought fresh fruits/vegetables. My sister bought an organic fruit roll-up which was really really tasty.

Finally, the best experience was the helicopter ride. I went on a helicopter ride with my mom. When I and my mom were in the helicopter, my sister went to the beach with my dad. In the helicopter, I felt like I was a pro. When we were hovering above the ground to get into the sky my dad took a photo. I was so excited because it was a once in a lifetime experience. I saw so many waterfalls and full-circle rainbows. The pilot that was driving the helicopter named the ride The Rainbow Ride. My favorite parts of the helicopter ride were when I saw rain on the helicopter and turned all sunny and there was a surprise triple circle rainbow!! It was so cool because it was a triple circle rainbow. Everyone thinks that rainbows are a half-circle, but if you have been on a helicopter, then you know that it is a full circle, not a half-circle.

If you are excited about Kauai, Hawaii, you can have these experiences. This is one of the great places I have been to on a trip. This trip made me curious to check out more islands in Hawaii.
